The 4th Mushroom Festival held on the weekend of 19-20 November 2022, was a huge success, exceeding all expectations. It was organized by the mountain community of Spilia, Kyriakides Mushrooms and the Cyprus Chefs Association, and left everyone impressed due to the countless surprises and excellent organization!
The festival was held in a picturesque location next to the village church. The centerpiece of the festival was the largest frying pan ever seen, 4 metres in diameter and filled with an actual ton of mushrooms. The attempt to break the world record for the largest serving of sautéed mushrooms, was a complete success, with a final weight of 1210 kilos of mushrooms!
Delectable dishes such as wild mushrooms, mushroom bao buns, mushroom burgers, delicious mushroom sausages, and everyone’s favourite mushroom soup, were served! Also, a children’s corner with inflatable castles, balloons, a playground and face painting was set up at the community’s basketball field, for the younger visitors of the festival. The 4th Mushroom Festival brought together mushroom lovers foreigners and locals alike, celebrating their love for this yummy delicacy.
We are waiting for you again this year, at the 5th annual Mushroom Festival to have a good time, eat, drink, dance and offer our support and love to our fellow human beings, since this year we will cook with love, a huge mushroom orzo which we will serve and sale, and all proceeds will be donated to the “Monadika Xamogela” Association to help our fellow human beings with rare diseases, but also to the “Amerikos Argyriou” Center for Preventive Paediatrics.
